Raytown School District announces 2017 Alumni Hall of Fame Class

The Raytown School District is pleased to announce its Alumni Hall of Fame Class for 2017.  The class includes five individuals who will join the ranks of other respected alumni during the September 29 and 30 Induction Weekend activities.

Dr. Amy Apprill is a 1996 graduate of Raytown South High School. Dr. Apprill is a world renown marine biologist, published author, and nationally recognized lecturer and presenter.

Gene P. Graham, Jr. is a 1976 graduate of Raytown South High School. Graham is an award-winning attorney-at-law, former Director of the American Board of Trial Advocates, and a coach and sponsor of youth sports activities in the Lee's Summit area.

Liz Kelley-Hansen is a 1969 graduate of Raytown South High School. Kelley-Hansen is a professional dancer, performer, and dance instructor, owner of Dance Studio 1 - Liz Kelley, and a recipient of the President's award from the Vietnam Veterans of America.

John Von Kieffer is a 1961 graduate of Raytown High School. Von Kieffer is an educator, nationally recognized band director, and community activist.

Dr. Karen L. Koster is a 1980 Graduate of Raytown High School. Koster is an organismal biologist and plant physiologist, Associate Chair of Biology at the University of South Dakota, and nationally recognized published author and lecturer.

The five inductees will meet with students at the two district high schools, will be featured speakers at a community luncheon, and will be introduced at the Raytown South High School football game all on Friday, September 29 at Raytown South High School Stadium; the formal induction ceremony takes place on Saturday, September 30. 

This is the 13th class to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, which began in 2005.
