Mrs. Lisa KirkSpring Valley Elementary art teacher Lisa Kirk, has been selected as the Missouri Art Education Association (MAEA) Elementary Art Educator of the Year.

Each year, the Elementary Art Educator of the Year award honors one elementary art teacher who has significantly contributed to the association and to art education at the state, local, and national levels.

Spring Valley Principal Dr. Judith Campbell said, “Lisa Kirk is an inspiration to a community of learners and dreamers. We often think of rigorous instruction and meaningful relationships taking place in a regular classroom. However, when you have the honor of being in the presence and being taught by Lisa Kirk, you are instantly submerged in understanding her passion for children, people, and her sincere love for art.”

Dr. Campbell added, “As a leader, Lisa Kirk is not an average leader who just raises the bar for herself, nor is she a good leader that raises the bar for others, she is a phenomenal leader that inspires us to want to raise the bar for ourselves and our students. Spring Valley is proud of you, Mrs. Kirk!”

Kirk will receive her award at the Missouri Art Educators Association Conference on April 7 in Springfield, Missouri.
